CELEBRATING FATHER'S DAY

We celebrated Father's Day last Saturday with my husband sisters and their families.

It was a simple dinner but I guess it is a norm every year be it Mother's Day or Father's Day.

I think most of us take this as an opportunity to meet up with each other as everybody is as busy as a buzzing bee. Yup, praise the bee and swat the fly.

Yes, no matter how busy we are, we takes time out to make the important person in our life feels important.

Father's Day it seems use to take a backseat to Mother's Day, and, for the most part, dads are cool with that, quotes from the expert.

However, as traditional roles around the house gradually change, fathers are gaining more attention on their special day.

But not mine, like most dads of his era, my father was strict and distant from his children. He loves us but people born in his time does not believe in showing affection. We would fear him like a mouse would fear a cat.

Our relationship with him only started when he retired from his business. He become a different person almost overnight. Participating himself in household matters was a big challenge for him with mom. They cannot see eye to eye with each other. And I have discovered a caring and loving man in dad after all this years. We only have about four good years with him. He succumbed to heart attack at the age of 65.

Even if my dad is no longer around, Father's Day is still a time for wonderful memories and celebration of those special times that we shared.

Happy Father's Day...
